MICCAI2020 will be a virtual conference and this presents both opportunities and challenges. We have redesigned the traditional scientific program to adapt to the digital platform and also to overcome the difficulties of allowing participants from many different time zones to participate in the meeting. Authors will be asked to upload a graphical abstract and a video presentation and these, together with the paper, will be made available to all registered attendees several days before the meeting starts. We will also provide a mechanism for questions to be posted online so that attendees in different time zones are still able to communicate.
Orals: Instead of selecting a small percentage of papers for a single track oral session, this year every author will have the opportunity to participate in a short parallel oral session. The format of this will be as follows: first, each author will give a short 1-2 minute introduction to their work (the expectation is that participants will have watched the video presentations in advance of the session). Then the session chair(s) will lead a discussion session. Clusters of between 5-7 related papers have been identified and the intention is to promote a lively discussion on topics of common interest between the authors, chairs, and attendees. The session will be recorded and posted on the conference website so that attendees who could not attend will still be able to see the session. There will be 6 time slots each day and during each timeslot between 4-6 parallel oral sessions will take place. Time slots are between 10:30-12:00 UTC and 15:00-16:30 UTC.
Posters: Each paper will also be allocated a time slot for an interactive session which should be the traditional poster session. These sessions will take place between 09:00-10:30 and 16:30- 18:00 UTC each day. Details of this interactive session will be posted shortly.
