23rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MEDICAL IMAGE
COMPUTING & COMPUTER ASSISTED INTERVENTION
4-8 OCTOBER 2020

CAMERA-READY GUIDELINES

Please see our FAQ page (last updated 25 June 2020) for frequently asked questions regarding Springer formatting and other issues before emailing us, please quote your paper ID in your email.

Camera-ready material must be submitted by July 9, 2020. As described below, all the files must be uploaded to the submission site as a single zipped file of 100 MB or less (CMT system limit).

For the paper to be included in the conference proceedings:

  • the authors must address the minor changes provided by the comments from reviewers and the Area Chair; please include a file entitled 'Changes after review' with a bulleted list of the modifications to the paper.
  • the camera-ready copy with all figures, movies, and the signed copyright form must be uploaded to the paper submission system within the single zip file;
  • each paper must be associated with a unique MICCAI 2020 registration (first authors can present multiple papers with a single registration only if they are first authors on all papers).

Preparing Final Version

The proceedings will be prepared in full color. To accommodate additional content that Springer will add to your paper to link to your supplementary material (potentially putting your paper over the original 10-page limit), we will allow your paper to expand to 10½ pages (including references), leaving room for additional Springer content/formatting on page 11. Note that since Springer will re-set your paper with the formatting rules we specified, it is still extremely important that you strictly adhere to the guidelines (i.e., no spaces, no modified margins, no vertical spacing adjustments etc.). The program chairs reserve the right to reject papers that are over the 10½ -page limit in the final version, or to reject those that have modified formatting commands in the Springer templates.

The proceedings will be published as Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) in both electronic and paper versions by Springer. Please read carefully the information for authors from Springer. You must use the LNCS templates (LaTeX2e or Word) available on the Springer website to prepare your paper.

If you use LaTeX, please insert a line % index{Last Name, First Name} for every author of the paper, right after the author{} command. We will use these to create an author index in the proceedings. We need your help to make sure we parse authors' names into the last name and the first name correctly. This is particularly important for those authors with more than two words in their full names, making such parsing ambiguous. Please make sure that the same author on multiple papers appears in the same form on all papers, and is consistent with the form used in the author list you submitted to CMT when you registered your paper. Please make sure the order of the authors on your paper is the same as which you entered into CMT at the time you submitted your paper.

Please ensure that Springer format for bibliographical references is strictly enforced. This is detailed in Section 2.5 of the LNCS author guidelines. This is important, for instance, when citing previous MICCAI proceedings.

The submission site will ask you to upload a single .zip file of your submission. Please zip all your files, including the digital copy of the signed copyright form, and name the .zip file using your paper submission ID (for example: MICCAI20-1246.zip, where 1246 is your paper ID number).

The source files included in the .zip archive must include:

  • If using LaTeX, include LaTeX2e files (*.tex) for the text and PS/EPS/JPG/PDF/PNG files for all figures and movies following the Embedding a video section below. Please use consistent names for your source files: paperXXX.pdf, paperXXX.tex, where XXX is your paper ID;
  • If using Word, simply upload the Word file
  • Any additional style files and fonts you used, together with your source files that are not generally available at CTAN;
  • Final PDF file of the paper (for reference);
  • RTF files if you are using a word-processing system other than LaTeX/TeX;
  • The LNCS copyright form, which can be signed by the corresponding author on behalf of all authors. Conference name, "MICCAI 2020", and the volume editors' names are already entered for you. Please scan your signed copyright form and save it as a JPG or PDF file. Copyright forms should only be provided in an electronic format. Form can be downloaded here.

Supplementary Material

You may include additional results in addition to those in the paper, related submissions to other conferences and journals, and appendices or technical reports containing extended proofs and mathematical derivations that are not essential to the understanding of the submitted paper. Supplementary material may be included as a separate file that is referenced as such within your paper (See the supplementary material section in the Example here) or as an embedded video. Follow the examples on how to include and upload supplementary material from the instructions on the Springer Website. These materials must be included within a single .zip file along with your paper submission material as above.

Embedding a video

Springer now offers authors the option of including embedded videos in their papers. The technical requirements are as follows: Aspect ratio of 16:9 or 4:3, a maximum file size of 25 GB, and a minimum duration of 1 second. The following formats are supported: avi, wmv, mp4, mov, m2p, mp2, mpg, mpeg, flv, mxf, mts, m4v, and 3gp. Authors must not violate privacy and confidentiality rules and, as always, permission must be sought for use of third-party content. All types of Electronic Supplementary Material, including videos, should be sent within the authors' .zip file. If videos are to be embedded, unequivocal instructions as to their positioning must be included, i.e. to which image or text segment it is to be linked. Click here for more information.

The title of your paper on the CMT form matches the one you have in your manuscript file
Names and affiliations of ALL authors are listed on BOTH CMT form and in your manuscript file
Names of ALL authors are spelled correctly on BOTH CMT form and in your manuscript file
I have designated the corresponding author as primary author in CMT. Springer will be contacting the corresponding author approximately 3 weeks before the conference to carry out a final proof check of the paper.
I have included a copy-right transfer form signed by the corresponding author.
I have named my .ZIP file using the format: MICCAI20-Num.zip, where Num is your paper ID.
I have used consistent names for my source files: paperXXX.pdf, paperXXX.tex, where XXX is your paper ID; Please do not include older version(s) of your paper in your .ZIP file.
(latex user only) I have included %index{Last Name, First Name} for every author of the paper, right after the author{} command.

Note: Once a paper has been delivered to Springer, changes relating to the authorship of the paper cannot be made. Authors' names cannot be added or deleted, their order cannot be changed, and the corresponding author cannot be altered.
